Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw
conducted by Henk Meutgeert

Evolution
The concentration of jazz talent in the Netherlands rivals that of anywhere in the world. In 1996 the formation of the New Concert Big Band was the first step in bringing this talent and repertoire together in the American Big Band style. Formed by pianist-arranger Henk Meutgeert, bassist Frans van Geest and drummer Hans Dekker, the orchestra swiftly moved to center stage under an arrangement with Amsterdam's prestigious Concertgebouw to become The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.

New Jazz Injection
Drawing on the writing skills of widely diverse sources, Henk Meutgeert arranges the material over a broad range of projects. Live appearances in the Big Band form attracted huge support from the Dutch jazz community, adding to the concentration of skills and the dynamic interchange of music and musicians throughout the Netherlands.
